Update from the church

The Pathway Church (Beauchief Baptist) family have recently taken the difficult decision to draw the church to a close. That means that, as of the end of 2025, the church will no longer be meeting on Sundays. This has been a difficult decision to reach, but we do not believe we have the resources to serve the community as well as we would want to, and cannot see a sustainable future.

As a charity, we have therefore voted to close. What that means legally is that the Yorkshire Baptist Association (of whom we have been a part) will take over the assets the church holds. Everybody’s hope is that another church will re-establish a vibrant worshiping community in the building and demonstrate God’s love to the community of Beauchief and beyond. As plans are made, we will seek to share them.

This decision has been shared with all those who regularly hire or use the building. They are all able to continue doing so, so if you are used to using the building midweek you are still able to do so. Our own Monday Meeting Place community will continue to meet at least up until the Easter. But at present we cannot take on any new bookings.

The final event this year will be a Carols and Nativity event on Sunday 14th December, 3–5pm. This is open to everyone, and we would love to see you there if you can make it.

As Christians, we believe firmly that Jesus rose from the dead. But before he could, he had to die. Central to our faith is the fact that God can always do something new and bring forth new life, in each of us individually, and in our communities. Sometimes, though, something has to stop before something else can start. Our hope and prayer is that as we allow something to end and die, something else can spring up, bringing resurrection life to many!
